Enrollment Analysis: Black students comprised 36% of Wheeler County's student body during 2022-23 school year

There were 293 Black students enrolled in Wheeler County school in the 2022-23 school year, 1% less than the previous year, according to reports from the Georgia Department of Education.

Data showed that Wheeler County welcomed 813 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, Black students comprised 36% of the student body to be the second most represented ethnicity in the county.

Among the three schools in Wheeler County, Wheeler County Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of Black students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of 130 students.

As of 2024, Georgia has an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 1:15, which is better than the national average of 1:16. The state has its best student-to-teacher ratio of 14:1 in pre-kindergarten and middle school grades, while high school has an average ratio of 17:1.
