More students enrolled in Berrien County's only school district in 2022-23 school year

The only school district in Berrien County had rising enrollment in the 2022-23 school year, according to the Georgia Department of Education.

There were 2,925 students in the halls of Berrien County School District, 1.9% more than the year before.

Enrollment in Berrien County bucked the state's trend compared to the state's trend of decreasing enrollment.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 52% of them were male, and 48% were female.

Data also showed that most of the students were white, representing 72% of the Berrien County School District's total enrollment.

Berrien County School District has a main office in Nashville and is the only school district within Berrien County.

According to the Georgia Department of Education, over 1.6 million students were enrolled in Georgia's public schools during the 2021-22 school year. The state boasted a diverse and closely distributed student body across grade levels, with roughly 44% of the students in elementary, 24.5% in middle school, and 31.5% in high schools.

The state also registered an ethnically diverse student body, with 34.4% of the students identified as white, 36.5% as Black, 17.1% as Hispanic, and 4.5% as Asian.
