The latest movie from filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza, "Police State," will be shown at a Valdosta movie theater on Oct. 23, according to the SouthGeorgiaTimes.com. D’Souza expressed his surprise at making the film, saying, "I honestly wouldn't have believed, prior to the 2020 election and prior to Biden coming to office, that I’d be making this movie." He believes the film showcases the rapid introduction of a police state on various levels.
The movie explores the roots of what D’Souza refers to as "police state" activity by the government, ranging from the "Patriot Act" following 9/11 to more recent instances such as COVID lockdowns, social media censorship, prosecution of concerned parents at school board meetings, and the surveillance and detention of Americans who were in Washington, D.C. on January 6, 2021.
"Police State" features D’Souza himself, along with actor Nick Searcy, and interviews with U.S. House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R), radio host Dan Bongino, and several government whistleblowers.
The film's trailer has garnered 74 million views on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, as of publication time.
In addition to the Valdosta screening, the movie will be shown in other cities such as Atlanta, Brunswick, Columbus, Savannah, and more. The Valdosta screening will take place at Valdosta Cinemas on 1680 Baytree Rd at 7 p.m. on Oct. 23.
