The South Georgia Times, a media organization committed to comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, has sent a request under the Georgia Open Records Act § 50.18.70 et seq., to the Lanier County Election Department. The request is specifically for information regarding the methods used by the department to count votes in the upcoming election.

If the ballots are being counted manually, we have also requested an estimated number of people who will be working on election night. This information is crucial in understanding how our electoral process functions and ensuring that it is conducted with transparency and integrity.
