FOIA Request Sent to Turner County Election Department Regarding Ballot Counting Methods on October 29, 2024

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Turner County Election Department in Georgia on October 29, 2024. The request was made by South Georgia Times, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.

In the request, we asked for a list of methods being used to count votes in the upcoming election. If votes are being counted manually, we requested an estimated number of people who will be working on election night. This information is critical for us at South Georgia Times as it allows us to provide our readers with transparent and accountable reporting about their local government's election process.

As a media organization, we believe in the importance of access to public records. It helps us fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. We have therefore requested a fee waiver as a media professional.

We look forward to receiving this information from the Turner County Election Department and sharing it with our readers. As always, we remain committed to delivering comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
