FOIA Request Sent to Ware County Election Department Regarding Ballot Counting Methods on October 29, 2024

FOIA Request to Ware County Election Department Regarding Ballot Counting Methods on October 29, 2024.

In a continuous effort to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at South Georgia Times have sent a request under the Georgia Open Records Act § 50.18.70 et seq., to the Ware County Election Department.

The request is aimed at obtaining information about the methods being used by the department to count votes in the upcoming elections. In particular, if manual counting is being employed, we have asked for an estimated number of people who will be working on election night.

As a media organization committed to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, access to such public records is essential for us. We believe that this information will not only help us fulfill our professional responsibilities but also enable us to keep our readers informed about how their votes are being counted.

We have also requested a fee waiver as a media professional, citing our role in disseminating information to the public.

We look forward to receiving a response from the Ware County Election Department and will continue striving towards ensuring transparency in local governmental affairs.
