Enrollment Analysis: African American students comprised 37% of Ware County's school district student body in 2022-23 school year

There were 2,075 African American students enrolled in Ware County school district in the 2022-23 school year, 1.3% less than the previous year, according to the Georgia Department of Education.

Data showed that Ware County school district welcomed 5,610 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, African American students comprised 37% of the student body to be the second most represented ethnicity in the county's school district.

This is the only school district located within Ware County, with its main office in Waycross.

As of 2024, Georgia has an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 15:1, which is better than the national average of 16:1. The state has its best student-to-teacher ratio of 14:1 in pre-kindergarten and middle school grades, while high school has an average ratio of 17:1.
