Cook County Education: Fewer students enrolled in Cook County School District in 2022-23 school year

The only school district in Cook County faced declining enrollment in the 2022-23 school year, according to the Georgia Department of Education.

There were 2,879 students in the halls of Cook County School District, 1% less than the year before.

Enrollment in Cook County was steady compared to the state's trend of decreasing enrollment.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 52% of them were male, and 48% were female.

The most represented ethnicity among Cook County School District students was white, accounting for 50% of the student population.

Cook County School District has a main office in ADEL and is the only school district within Cook County.

According to the Georgia Department of Education, over 1.6 million students were enrolled in Georgia's public schools during the 2021-22 school year. The state boasted a diverse and closely distributed student body across grade levels, with roughly 44% of the students in elementary, 24.5% in middle school, and 31.5% in high schools.

The state also registered an ethnically diverse student body, with 34.4% of the students identified as white, 36.5% as Black, 17.1% as Hispanic, and 4.5% as Asian.
