Irwin County Schools: Irwin County Elementary School welcomed most students in 2022-23 school year

Irwin County Elementary School had the highest enrollment among Irwin County schools, welcoming 667 students during the 2022-23 school year, according to the Georgia Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 52% of them were male, and 48% were female.

Data also showed that most of the students were white, representing 57% of the Irwin County Elementary School total enrollment.

Among the three schools in Irwin County, Irwin County High School ranked second in enrollment numbers with 487 students, while Irwin County Middle School welcomed 389 students to be ranked third in the 2022-23 school year.

Irwin County Elementary School is part of Irwin County School District, which generally encompasses schools within Irwin County, with its main office in Ocilla.

In the previous school year, Irwin County Elementary School also had the highest number of students among Irwin County schools.

As of 2024, Georgia has an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 1:15, which is better than the national average of 1:16. The state has its best student-to-teacher ratio of 14:1 in pre-kindergarten and middle school grades, while high school has an average ratio of 17:1.
