5.2% of Cook County residents considered unemployed in 2021

Cook County recorded an unemployment rate of 5.2% among residents aged 16 and 65 years old in 2021. That’s 416 people out of the 17,188 living in Cook County at the time, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The unemployment rate in Cook County has increased compared to the 4.5% registered in 2020.

The percentage of people unemployed in Cook County was less than the statewide unemployment rate of 5.5%.

Of the 7,622 people who had a job during that time, 193 were employed in the Armed Forces and 7,429 belonged to the civilian labor force.
