The Georgia Secretary of State's Securities Division recently conducted the "Money Talks" financial literacy program at North Georgia schools, including the University of North Georgia and Dalton State College. The program aimed to provide essential money management education to over 200 students and empower them with practical financial skills.
Over the course of two days, the program featured panel discussions led by financial experts on various financial topics such as budgeting, saving, investing, credit, and retirement planning. The initiative also distributed free publications to students, covering subjects like investing, financial fraud prevention, and budgeting.
In the press release by the Georgia Secretary of State, Secretary Raffensperger stated: "We're thrilled to be getting this message out to as many young Georgians as possible. By learning these crucial financial management skills at a young age, these Georgians will unlock so many opportunities."
The panel discussions were moderated by Atlanta radio personality Art Terrell and featured financial experts Leanne Crayport, Ebony Francis, and Sileta Bell. They engaged college students in insightful discussions covering practical money skills such as budgeting, saving, investing, income optimization, credit, loans, retirement planning, entrepreneurship, and starting a small business.
Noula Zaharis, Division Director of the Georgia Secretary of State's Securities Division, emphasized the importance of equipping students with financial knowledge and skills as they navigate pivotal economic milestones like selecting a college or career, securing their first job, and managing their initial paychecks. The Secretary of State's office remains committed to fostering financial empowerment among the student population.

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, who was first elected in 2018 and re-elected in 2022, has been dedicated to ensuring secure and accessible elections in Georgia. With a background in engineering and construction, Raffensperger has also founded businesses such as Tendon Systems and Trillium Structures. Prior to becoming Secretary of State, he served on the City Council in Johns Creek and as a representative in the Georgia House for two terms.
