Earlier this morning Lowndes County in partnership with the Valdosta-Lowndes County Chamber of Commerce & Georgia Grown held our annual Farmer Appreciation breakfast at the Lowndes County Civic Center. We also named our Large & Small Farmers of the Year.
Congratulations to David Corbett, South Georgia Produce, Inc. for being named our Large Farmer of the Year and Fifth Day Farm for being named our Small Farmer of the Year.
We had over 135 farmers, leaders from the community, and the agriculture industry in attendance.
Lowndes and Echols Counties have a rich tradition of being large farming communities and providing an abundant supply of food and fiber to not only our community and state but all around the world. The agriculture industry represents more than $337 million in annual farm gate value within Lowndes and Echols counties.
