Earlier today, Lowndes County welcomed the Leadership Lowndes Youth Fall Class of 2022 as a part of their Local Government Day. They had the opportunity to hear from County Chairman Bill Slaughter, County Manager Paige Dukes, and Mayor Scott James Matheson from Valdosta, A City Without Limits.
The class took part in an election and voted for their Chairman and Commissioners, they heard about the history of Lowndes County, visited Lowndes County Public Works, and wrapped their day up at Lowndes County 911.
Leadership Lowndes Youth is a program to assist students in developing an internal sense of community awareness, knowledge of teen issues, and the development of leadership skills and provides an opportunity for students to network with each other and with other adult leaders for the betterment of their community.
