Greenbrier Elementary School recently issued the following announcement.

The name Purposity is a combination of purpose + generosity. For the past year, the Columbia County community has put the Purposity App to use meeting the immediate needs of our students and families.

Dubbed “Your Tool for Good,” the Purposity app works like Facebook connects us to friends and how Google connects us to information.

Once the app is downloaded, users can choose to receive weekly notifications of needs right here in Columbia County, along with a way to fill those needs with a simple, quick online purchase. Once ordered, the requested items arrive in the hands of our school social workers in just a few days.

All needs are vetted by our school social workers and the wraparound support specialist.

“The investments made in the lives of our students through Purposity have accomplished so much this past year,” said School Social Worker and F.I.T. Liaison Mohra Hill-Smith.

“Together, we have given beds and household necessities to formerly homeless students and their families. We have provided essential items to children and families in crises resulting from job losses, medical emergencies, the death of a primary provider, and also to those students living in impoverished situations. Through Purposity and the generosity of Columbia County, together we have improved our community and people’s lives. On behalf of those whose lives have been touched, thank you!”

Last school year alone, more than 300 needs, totaling more than $2,500 were met by our users on the Purposity app. To date, the CCSD has a following of more than 900 and growing! We are so grateful for the support our community has continued to show in our effort to provide quality education for ALL students in a positive, safe, and clean environment!
