For those of you who didn’t know her, Suzanne Fogarty was a beloved member of the Blessed Sacrament and St. Peter’s communities before she lost her battle with cancer several years ago. Suzanne believed that “…the greatest gift we can give a teacher is the desire to learn.” This award was Suzanne’s vision. She wanted to show her gratitude to Saint Peter the Apostle School and Blessed Sacrament School for the generosity and kindness they showed to her and her family. Suzanne considered this the “Teacher’s Scholarship” because the teachers nominate the students who exemplify what Suzanne admired most in her own students: a love and appreciation of learning.

How it Works…

Two awards are presented annually: The Saint Peter the Apostle Catholic School Award and the Blessed Sacrament Catholic School Award. Amount of the The Suzanne Fogarty Education Award will provide each student with full tuition for one academic year (excluding fees).

Who is Eligible?

• Students in grades 2nd thru 7th who have completed one academic year of schooling at SPA/BSS prior to nomination deadline

• Practicing Catholic

• Must demonstrate the following qualities (per Suzanne)

• Hard working

• Loves school

• Positive attitude

• Participates in all types of school activities

• School spirit

• Kind, friendly, and welcoming to all students

• Does not participate in cliques

• Helps others

• Not necessarily a straight “A” student

Teachers nominate the students. The nominations include a description of the student’s attitude and work ethic (per the qualities listed above) with specific examples.
