The Thomasville History Center will host the next program in the 2026 Bicentennial Lunch & Learn Speaker Series on April 7 at noon, featuring Lori Curtis, Curator at Pebble Hill Plantation. The event is free and open to the public and will take place in the Davis Wing of the Thomasville History Center.

Curtis, who has worked at Pebble Hill for more than fifteen years and served as Curator since 2016, will present highlights from “Pebble Hill Plantation: A 200-Year Legacy,” an exhibit currently on display in the Elisabeth Ireland Poe Gallery. She plans to share photographs, artifacts, and stories that illustrate two centuries of life at Pebble Hill Plantation and its connections to Thomasville’s founding and growth.

The exhibition explores how people, traditions, and events have shaped Pebble Hill over two centuries using archival materials and objects from its collections. According to organizers, it examines the plantation’s evolving role in both Thomas County history and the broader region. The exhibit remains open through October.

The Bicentennial Lunch & Learn Speaker Series is a collaborative effort by the Thomasville History Center, Pebble Hill Plantation, and Jack Hadley Black History Museum. It aims to highlight diverse stories within Thomasville as part of its bicentennial celebration. Lectures are scheduled for noon on select first Tuesdays throughout 2026; guests may bring lunch or enjoy provided refreshments.

According to the official website of the Thomas and Thomasville Chamber, which supports civic engagement through leadership training initiatives, youth development programs, workforce efforts, community awards such as Community Impact Awards for businesses or individuals making significant contributions locally are also presented by this organization. Its administrative headquarters is located at 401 S. Broad St., while it collaborates with entities like the Thomasville Payroll Development Authority for economic development opportunities across the region.

Esther-Marie Lawrence serves as executive director of the Chamber, whose mission is building a dynamic community that supports business success through connections and growth.
