House study committee to review regulation of used motor vehicle dealers

The House Study Committee on the State Board of Registration of Used Motor Vehicle Dealers & Used Motor Vehicle Parts Dealers will hold its first meeting on August 19, 2025. The session is scheduled for 10 a.m. in room 606 of the Coverdell Legislative Office Building in Atlanta.

The committee is chaired by State Representative John Corbett (R-Lake Park). It was created after the adoption of House Resolution 558 during the 2025 legislative session. The group will examine whether regulation of the used motor vehicle industry should fall under the same agency that issues license plates required for these businesses to operate.

“House Study Committee on the State Board of Registration of Used Motor Vehicle Dealers & Used Motor Vehicle Parts Dealers was established following the adoption of House Resolution 558 during the 2025 legislative session. This study committee will study whether regulation of the used motor vehicle industry would be best suited within the same agency that is responsible for issuing license plates that are essential for the operation of such business.”

The meeting will include members of the committee and will take place at Coverdell Legislative Office Building, Room 606, located at 18 Capitol Square S.W., Atlanta, GA.

Burns, a Republican, has represented Georgia’s 159th House District since his election in 2005, succeeding Ray Holland.
