House panel to review funding structure of Georgia’s public health system

The House Study Committee on Evaluating Funding for Public Health will convene its first meeting on August 20, 2025, at the Coverdell Legislative Office Building in Atlanta. The committee is chaired by State Representative Darlene Taylor (R-Thomasville).

This committee was established through House Resolution 847 and is tasked with examining how Georgia’s public health system is organized and funded. It will also review the services currently provided by the system to assess if further action from the state is needed.

Burns, a Republican, has served in the Georgia State House since 2005, representing the state’s 159th House District after succeeding Ray Holland.
